Joy Church: A 36-Panel LED Wall With a Complete Video Workflow
Joy Church in Medford, Oregon came to Qohr with a two-part visual upgrade: a new LED wall and the video infrastructure required to use it well. Installing a bright new display without updating the signal path, cameras, routing, and control would have left the church with only half of a solution.
Qohr installed a 36-panel LED wall and rebuilt the church's video control system around a workflow that supports image magnification, lyrics, recording, and livestream production.
The Challenge
The church needed a large sanctuary display that would remain clear under stage lighting, perform well on camera, and integrate with the existing production environment. At the same time, the aging video backbone needed to be updated without creating a system that required a broadcast engineer to operate every Sunday.
The complete project needed to address the display, mounting structure, video processing, cameras, routing, synchronization, monitoring, control, and volunteer training.
What Qohr Installed
36-Panel Church LED Wall
The sanctuary LED wall uses 36 Qohr Q-Panel 2.97mm cabinets mounted on custom ground-support truss. A NovaStar VX600 processor drives the wall and provides the processing needed for consistent content playback and calibration.
The 2.97mm pixel pitch balances image clarity with the size and viewing distances of the room. The ground-support structure also keeps the wall accessible for service without requiring a rear maintenance cavity.
Video Switching and SDI Routing
A Blackmagic Design ATEM Constellation became the center of the updated video workflow. An AJA 16x16 SDI router, synchronization equipment, and a Sonnet Thunderbolt expansion system support signal distribution and production connectivity across the control room, front of house, and back-of-house spaces.
This infrastructure allows cameras, presentation content, monitoring, recording, the LED wall, and the livestream workflow to operate as parts of one system.
Blackmagic Camera System
Qohr installed a Blackmagic Studio Camera 6K Pro and a Blackmagic Micro Studio Camera 4K to provide flexible camera angles for image magnification and streaming. Both cameras were integrated into the new routing and control environment so the production team could move between sources without rebuilding the workflow each week.
Volunteer-Friendly Control
A Stream Deck XL gives the team quick access to common video actions and repeatable system configurations. The control layout was built around the church's real service flow, helping volunteers operate the system consistently without navigating every technical layer of the equipment.
The Result
Joy Church now has a large, camera-conscious LED wall and the video system required to drive it properly. The control room can manage cameras, lyrics, image magnification, routing, and livestream production through one coordinated workflow.
The upgrade also created a stronger foundation for future video expansion because the switching, routing, monitoring, and control systems were designed together instead of added one piece at a time.
