Zoe Church South Bay: Portable AVL Built for Weekly Setup

When Zoe Church launched its South Bay campus in a school, the production system had to solve a problem permanent church systems rarely face: every piece of audio, video, wireless, streaming, and LED equipment needed to load in, operate reliably, and load back out every week.
Qohr designed the complete portable AVL system around fast deployment, protected transportation, repeatable connections, and a volunteer team that could turn an empty room into a finished worship environment on Sunday morning.
The Challenge
A portable church does not have the luxury of permanently installed racks, speakers, displays, or cable paths. Every additional connection adds setup time and another opportunity for a mistake. The system therefore needed to deliver the quality expected from a permanent campus while remaining practical to transport, assemble, test, and strike each week.
The design also needed to support live worship, wireless microphones and in-ear monitoring, multiple cameras, multisite streaming, a large LED wall, and volunteers working within a limited setup window.
How the Portable AVL System Was Built
Meyer Sound Audio on Mobile Frames
Meyer Sound loudspeakers and subwoofers were mounted on caster-equipped frames so the audio system could roll into position instead of being rebuilt from individual components every week. The system is mixed on a Yamaha DM7 housed in a hydraulic case that raises the console into operating position and protects it during transport.
The mobile design reduces handling, speeds up deployment, and helps the system return to the same physical configuration each Sunday.
Prebuilt Shure Wireless Racks
Shure digital wireless supports vocals and in-ear monitoring. The wireless equipment was organized into prebuilt racks so the team connects and verifies known signal paths rather than rebuilding the RF system during every load-in.
Blackmagic Video and Resi Streaming
Blackmagic Design cameras feed an ATEM Constellation switcher for live video production. A Resi encoder supports multisite streaming and gives the campus a dedicated path for receiving or delivering reliable video content.
The video workflow was packaged for transportation and labeled around repeatable setup, helping volunteers move from cases to a working production system with fewer troubleshooting points.
Ground-Supported 2.6mm LED Wall
A Qohr Q-Panel 2.6mm LED wall provides the main visual surface for lyrics, teaching content, and video. The wall uses a ground-support structure designed for weekly setup and teardown, allowing the church's trained team to assemble the display without relying on permanent rigging or lifts.
Cases, Cabling, and Repeatable Connections
The success of a portable system depends on the parts people rarely see. Equipment placement, road cases, cable looms, labeling, power distribution, and connection order were designed to reduce weekly decisions. The goal is a plug-and-verify workflow rather than a figure-it-out workflow.
The Result
Zoe Church South Bay has a launch-ready production system that moves from an empty school venue to a complete worship environment and back each week. The system supports full-scale audio, wireless, video, streaming, and LED production while remaining practical for a volunteer-led portable campus.
Portable does not have to mean temporary quality. It does require every component, case, connection, and movement to be designed around setup and teardown from the beginning.
